so the situation is i have a 1996 explorer that had a head gasket go bad while my sister was driving it while i was in europe and it was completely toast when got back so i got a motor from a friend out of his totaled 97 sport which i had to swap the injectors in. and i got it completely installed and go to start it and it wont crank. well something apparently fell down inside the intake while he was removing it (removed the intake for bell housing bolts) and i can roll the motor by hand in both directions but something in the passenger side bank is stopping it in either direction about 180*. So to make matters worse SOME HOW! i managed to get it completely put together and the torque converter isn't seated in the splines on the input shaft because when i turn the motor over i can hear and sort of feel the splines slipping over each other. then it gets even better when removing the starter to examine the TC issue it broke, yes the starter broke off one of the loops the bolt goes through, how? no clue but i cant see how to get the starter out without pulling the motor, no joke it seems to be wedged in there. So hopefully you see im pretty invested in this but at this point extremely beat down and sort of looking for advice.
I was debating pulling the head seeings whats in the cylinder checking the valves making sure everything was alright and slapping it back together. loosening the bell housing bolts, taking the nuts off the TC and seeing if i can get it to seat correctly then hooking it back up and then finding a way to shoe horn the old starter out and a new one in.
thanks guys
