As some of you may know from my prior posts, I just installed a new Alpine HU (CDA-7894), rear 6.5" Alpine coaxials (SPR-174A) and front 6.5" Alpine components (SPR-176A), and I am very disappointed with the results. The speakers breakup/distort at about the same volume that my sh*t stock Ford speakers did. I have double-checked everything, asked for help here, and can not identify any problems with the setup. The concensus seems to be that the HU is just not poweful enough for these speakers.
I am having a hard time convincing myself that this 240W HU (60W per channel peak and 27W per channel RMS) is so horribly underpowering these speakers (the Alpine coaxials are rated at 40W RMS and the Alpine components are rated at 50W RMS). I will be testing a very old 2-channel I have to confirm that power is my problem. If/when I confirm what appears to be obvious to everyone else here except me, I will be in the market for a new 4-channel amp for my setup.
Please let me know what amp(s) would provide the most bang for my buck for powering my setup. The coaxials are rated at 40W RMS (160W peak) and the components are rated at 50W RMS (200W peak). Tx.
