My Ranger was service by the dealer before we got it and they install new rear brake shoes.. I had a look at there job for the first time and it sure looks wrong to me.. I need a close shot of the brake shoes and springs with adjuster wheel.. On my truck the adjuster star wheel does not have the adjuster lever touching it at all like on most vehicles. It is just hanging in the air doing nothing.. I an adjust the brakes ether way tighter or looser with out have to push the star wheel adjusting arm away from the star wheel itself as it never touched the star wheel.. I believe this is wrong.. Help me out please.. I have the Ford shop manual put it is useless as far as good detailed pictures go.. Thanks! George

It is not necessarily put together wrong. However, you need to replace the adjuster cable - it has stretched. These cables always stretch, and should be replaced fairly regularly.

The rear brakes was done by my Ford dealer just before we perched the truck they install new shoes and a entire new spring kit including all hardware.. I confirmed this when I pulled of my drum.. If i can I get some time I will pull it off again and post a good snapshot of what I see.. It just don't look right to me.. The adjusting arm in relation to the star wheel that is.. This arm stands off the star wheel. George
