I stopped into my local 4x4 shop today and the gentleman behind the counter told me that they do not make a body lift for my 05 st. He also said that a new set of torsion keys would put to much preload on my torsion bars? When I look on the web they say their kit will fit. the guys told me it wouldn't. Because their bumper relocation would not be right and neither would the steering linkage. can somone help?

That's because guys at shops aren't used to seeing sport tracs being modded, it's pretty rare. The place by my house is constantly doing crazy SEMA builds, yet they had never even heard about lifting a sport trac. The threads at the top of this forum have everything you need to know

the 3" body lift is commonly marked as an 01-02 sport trac fit. no worries as all tracs 01-05 can use the kit the model number is 70023 if i recall and its made by performance accessories. i recommend doing an add-a-leaf and the minimum amount of torsion twist needed to fit the tires you plan to run. torsion keys are not needed

I did a TT and body lift no idea why they said the keys would not work I actually like the ride of my truck it is not as soft as it was stock but not as rough as my last 3/4 truck.

not that they wouldn't work but they said that it will cause tons of front end problems in the future. sorry took so long to say thanks to you guys I was in new York for the holiday weekend

A TT will put more stress on the front end components because it increases the angle of your control arms, CV axles and everything else. That being said if you don't drive the truck like a race car and know that it will have a little stiffer ride you won't see too many problems. Oh and DON'T go over 2". It'd be better to stay as low as you can while still being able to fit the tires you want to run. Before my solid axle swap, I ran the same setup you are looking at - 3" body lift and 2" TT/shackle(or add-a-leaf) with 35x12.50x17s. You can see my old setup in the picture near my name. I did not replace any of my front end components. Every few thousand miles I had all of my front end components checked for wear and was even complimented on how good of shape they were in for a torsion twisted truck. It wouldn't be a bad long term plan to look into changing out some of the things like ball joints to heavier duty aftermarket setups though.

I went to my local ford dealership and several 4x4 shops and told them I wanted to Body lift my 07 Sport trac. They said I would never be able to do it. their was no kit. The frame was in compatible with the pieces and had special design that prevented it.

Behold - 3" BL - driven for 12,000 miles now with no problems and I could not be happier.
