need help with 4x4 problems

im having a problem with the front end or 4 wheel drive on my explorer, when i make a sharp turn at low speeds it feels like the front end is locking up and the tires are going to just pop off.i heard there is some kind of problem on some cotroltrac systems with the computer or something.please if anyone can help i would be very grateful.thanks

Your description sounds like the 4wd system is on when you are trying to turn. If you have the 4wd switch in "Auto" it should not do this.

There is a possibility that the 4wd system is not working correctly. I believe that there may be a TSB (technical service bulletin) dealing with this problem. The fix is to have the dealership "reflash" the GEM so that the transfer case clutch is not engaged all of the time.
