I bought a 2013 Explorer XLT. I had a friend install Westin Nerf bars. I then installed a Steelcraft Bull Bar, Steelcraft rear bumper guard,Husky Mud Guards, Lloyd's rubber floor mats & cargo mat myself.
My problem is with the rear bumper guard. No accessories seem to be listed online anywhere for a 2013 so I have been ordering for a 2011 or 2012. I ordered the Steelcraft rear bumper guard and overcame the first obstacle which was a tow hook/muffler hanger that didn't fit together with the left side bracket. A couple of hours with a cutting wheel and grinder adapted the tow hook and I did a nice installation.
The next problem is the rear motion sensor which evidently became available in 2013 sees the bumper guard and beeps. You can turn off the rear motion sensor, but you have to do it each time that you start the car, plus my wife thinks that this back up sensor is the best thing since ice cream.
So I removed the bumper guard for now. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could use this bumper guard in harmony with the back up sensor?
I wasn't able to start a thread elsewhere, maybe I am not authorized to. Can anyone help?
