i'd buy from thezeb.com or similar for a hu purchase. you'll save 40-70 in the price range your looking at.

I've purchased from thezeb.com with no problems whatsoever, often saving loads over in store cost....

i checked it out and they do have some good prices.

Go with Eclipse or alpine.
I have an Eclipse 5454 model and i love it.
You will have to spend some money to get a good head unit. at least 250 or better. But it all depends on what you want from your head unit. My advice is to research the brands you like and choose from there. I had a sony radio before i bought my eclipse. The sony was okay but the options was limited. Now sony top of the line head units are good. My final would be eclipse or alpine.

i work at circuit city also. we do carry a wide variety of hus for different price ranges. we will so to be dropping alpine from the list of products but we still have pioneer. but i got my pioneer premier deh-p860mp cd player for 322 after shipping on ebay. we sell the non premier on for 477 i think in the store.

Things we all learn after being in the hobby for a couple years-

If you want to tweak your sound Into infinity=you pay more
Everyone thinks their deck is the best
Few people buy a Sony deck (or Sony car audio in general) a second time
Listen to your ears more than you listen to other people's opinions about what "sounds good"

What I'm trying to say is that many of these opinions are very valid, but I would spend some time listening to some decks (installed in cars similar to yours, with similar equipment, NOT in a showroom) Oh, and don't get hung up on looks, just make sure the deck isn't gawdy, that you can read the display, and able to easily use the buttons on the deck.

I just picked up a Pioneer 3600, great HU for the price.
