need new tranny ( this is right one correct?)

okay i need a new tranny like last week so i found one on ebay but i just want to make sure its the right one befor i do anything.

or i was gonna order one from a factory that rebuilds them in phoenix called:

but this is what they want for one

$ 650.00 = tranny
$ 250.00 = core
$ 170.00 = shipping both ways

$ 1070.00 total
- 250.00 when core is returned

= $ 820.00 total when said and done

what do you guys think of that price ?

I would not put a tranny that was for a 2.3L behind a 4.0L. I do not know if they interchange.
I just replaced the automatic in my explorer with one from PRT and have had no problems so far and the people at PRT seem to be good to deal with.

ya mines a manuel tranny i believe m5r1 which both of those are but i just want to make sure.

what do you guy think of the one on ebay do you think i would have any problems don't the same tranny fit 2.3 and 4.0 ?

I do not know much manual transmission interchange, but it would seem to me that that a trans built for a 2.3L would not be as strong as tranny built for a 4.0L, and I think that only the 2.9L and 4.0L V-6s' share the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
I know that a tranny for a 2.9L is not as strong as one built for a 4.0L (auto or manual)
When I called and talked to the people at PRT (about my automatic) I got them to give me the auction price even thou I did not buy it on ebay, call and talk to them.

ya i'm not sure either about the interchagabilty of the tranny like you mentioned.

but i guess that makes sence about the strength issue,

hopefully someone else thats also knowledgable about trannies will jump in
