I have a chance to grab a pair of brand new 40 series mufflers for $100.00. Has anyone give any thought to going duals and just turning them down after or near the rear axle? I know it's done on full size trucks, but the would put the exhaust well behind the vehicle occupants. Would this work? Would I have to deal with fumes? Would the noise be unbearable? It would sure save alot of hassle without having to rout the left pipe? Any thoughts?

That is cheap for a set of those mufflers.I would not turn them down, when you have the widows down you will probally smell exhaust:( Just my 2 cents

I've got a 3" turn down on mine with a single 50 series. I havn't noticed any exhaust smell or anything since i did it but it does make the exhaust quite loud in the passenger cabin. It drones pretty bad anywhere from 2000-2800 rpm and doesn't sound as good as rear exits i think because it echoes and reverbs under the truck. I'm gonna run mine on out the back as soon as i get a little money. I want duals but i need my spare and there isn't room at all for them. I think i'm just going to stick a single 2.5" out the back.
