I am installing tomorrow a Ractive cone intake filter on my truck, just where the OEM filter box is located right now. I´ve read a lot about K&N, KKM, HKS and some other air induction (intake)systems, but none about ractive, it looks pretty good to me and is a lot cheaper than the other brands. Could you guys let me know your comments about it????. It is worth it, and will I gain some HP, rpm and torque.

99 Xplorer sport
4Rancho RS9000
Rancho leaf and torsion bar tweak (is been installed)
for a 2" lift
Pirelli Scorpion A/T´s lt265x75xr16
4 boston Acoustic coax 5x8 Jl Audio 10" sub in a Q form
PPI amp, fog lights.

Just browsing around I found this;http://www.miata.net/products/intex/rspeed_ractive.html

It's a good comment about the Ractive Air box.

Thanks FMNavajo

Well my friend, after a little more research.I find out they are made for sport cars, but as you know we need to tried to see the results. I just got the Rancho 2" or 2.5" lift, it feels some danr good. That I don´t know why Ford doesn´t installed on their trucks. "Money" (What about peoples life), this is my first Ford vehicle, I´ve been a GM owner for over 14 years,(***... American) and I would like to keep it that way. going back to the point any positive input.

Jesus.

I thought about this over the weekend and if you go with some type of air system your going to want think about getting that air out of your engine as fast as it comes in. So, you might want to look into getting some type of high flow exhaust like Flowmaster for example.

Oh, and welcome to the site, this is the best place to come when you have a problem with your truck or just want to modify it a little. There's a lot more info on this site but you'll have to search for it. Check out the "Explorer Tips" section, and "Modified Explorers", these are good resources to look through. You can even do a search on "Air intake", "Air box" or "KKM"/"K&N" and get a lot of info on what your working on now.

Hope this helps a little,
FM

yes and no.....where ya a flowmaster or any exhaust would help just about any engine you wouldn't need one if your only mod to date is a K@N. These things are nice but don't give you "earthsacking" power like some claim. For the drop in filter look for about 1mpg gain and about 5 extra hp. If you go with the cone look for about 1-2mpg and about 10-15 extra hp. These numbers are nice though since you no longer waist money on air filters.....just once and your out. I will say this though, if you got the money.....put on that exhaust. But if not, at least get the filter. I've ran my drop in for over a year now and I love it.

ps....I'm still waiting on pics after your twist lift.

I will have to get either a digital camera or a scanner
