'92 Explorer XL
Alright, I have a '92 XL and I have replaced the front and rear speakers already and I just bought a CD/ iPod player to replace my old cassette player and I will be getting some subs and amp fairly soon. Should I wait until I get the subs to wire up the player? Would I have to take the player out and wire it up to the sub, or can I wire it up to something else? I have been doing a lot of reading, but I just can't grasp what I need to do; I'm technologically inclined, but wiring has always been out of my league for some reason.

Any and all help is appreciated!

P.S. When I took out the speakers, they said it was the Premium system on the back, do I have a sub or amp somewhere that I don't know about?

Also, the CD player is a Freeway TCD-1361D. 4x45W Peak Power, what exactly does that mean?

You can install the deck now, just wire the RCA cables and remote wire to the deck now so you don't have to take it back out to do it when you get the amp

The 45x4 peak power means to each speaker the max power supply is 45 watts from the head unit... The actual power is less than the 45 watts

in reality its putting out about 10-15 watts. what you need to look at is the rms power rating this is the continuous power going to the speakers. there is a 99.9% chance no headunit will ever see its max power.
