need to get more camber!!!!

Ok, I got my ex aligned... back handed slap... (jk) - but anyways got the explorer aligned and the best they could do for camber was -1.3 Left -1.9 Right. I dont wanna be swapping out tires anytime soon, so I gotta make 'em last. What can I do to get more camber? They already maxed out the adjusters I installed.

John V... from what I've been told, the EE lowering specs are 0-5* neg camber... why do you allow so much? Any ideas for my current situation?

im kinda in the same boat, but i need to get it aligned. i just lowered it tonight, and im afraid they wont be able to align it correctly to 0. i just dropped it 2 inches, could they still align it, or what can i do? i know nothing about suspensions or alignments...

you need the camber kits. mine just came today it was 50 bucks on ebay and allows adjustment of 2degreese

You want less camber not more camber genius! Pick up those adjusters from eBay and tell the alignment shop that if they don't get it into spec, you will run them over.

right now I have negative camber.................................


And I did get a camber kit - similar to the adjusters sold by EE. They didn't have the bolt that goes all the way through tho. Would that help you get more?

GET IT ALIGNED ASAP!!!! (read my rant about it in tires forum)

If you have a hanes manual, look up camber or alignment... something like that.

You can't adjust the camber w/ the stock setup. You have to get camber adjusters. They are VERY simple to install. It is literraly 4 bolts and you're done. Camber is when the wheels tilt like this / \ (front view).

how much did you lower it? take the torsion adjuster bolts out?

i got mine aligned to -.5 on camber with just slightly over a 2" drop. i have the full bolt/cam kit. i dont see how it would be any different than the add on cams, but could be. just remember, every truck is slightly different. i think X-factor had this same issue.

i know there are 2 different versions of the camber adjusters the one i have allows more than the other adjuster, not sure how much though

Yep. Each truck is different. Mine is 2.25" drop with -1.3 camber.

the ford ones only allow 1.5 degrees of adjustment. the aftermarket ones look like a circle instead of a triangle and allow 2 degrees. those are 50$ though.

I talked to the guy who did the alignment.. he said he is going to look up anything he has to try and get a little more camber... here are before/after of dropage.

I think that comes out to around 2.5" or so.

Would adding another adjuster behind the current ones do anything? or... I know the adjusters have a spacer welded to them w/ a notch in 'em. If you could break that off and turn it a bit so the notch was at a different angle?

Lemme know what you think... I think if we could come up with a reasonable solution to this, it would benefit a lot of people.

im thinking the bolt with cams kit will allow more camber adjustment than just the add on cams. both the cams on the bolt kit are round and same sized. they just barely fit inside the little tab thingys on the mounts (the tabs that hold the cams in place.... dont know what they're called). they are a PITA to install compared to the add-a-cam kit. i got mine from an alignment shop who im almost positive gets parts from Napa. this is just a wild guess, so dont go replacing stuff on my word and then get mad when its still off.

Mine is lowered 2" and my alignment came out perfect after having the shop install a camber kit. My tires wear less now than they did stock.

I have the circular 2 degree camber kit from napa. If you want, I'll go take a measurement of the cams(diameter), do the same for yours(I'm guessing oval shaped, longest part across), to see if you're really maxed out or not.

I dont know. I never actually saw what was installed and the shop I took it to after it was installed for ball joints said they had never seen anything like it, but it works and they were able to get the alignment perfect.

It was done 2 years ago. I'm sure they dont look very new. My recommendation would be if the shop you took it to cant correct a 2" drop, yet all of us were able to do it, take it to another shop.
