im attempting a shov8 swap into my b2, and ive discovered it uses a duratec trans pattern. i need to locate a 4r55 or 5r55 out of a 4x4 3.0 duratec ranger and i need to know what t cases i can use behind it.
Rangers have never used the 3.0L Duratec V6. The 3.0L Vulcan V6 has been available for the past several years.
The 3.0L Vulcan bolt pattern matches the bell housing on the 4R44E and the 5R44E. The 4R55E and 5R55E have the 4.0L bolt pattern. The 55 is stronger than the 44 but not up to a lot more torque than the 4.0L delivers.
A Borg Warner 1350 or 1354 T/C will bolt up to the back of any 4RxxE or 5RxxE that has a 4x4 extension housing.
I worked as a tech for a Ford dealer From 2000-2002, and I've never seen a Ranger with a Duratec engine. An 01 Ranger with a 3.0 is the same engine that Ford had used for the last decade in Rangers and the Taurus. Crappy little engine, IMO.
I cant think of a rear drive Duratec application. You may have to purchase or fab an adapter.
