Hello,
I actually received an email response from them a couple weeks ago.
I found the article then contacted them. They did not tell me why they wont pursue it, but I feel it may have been due to the number of kits they sold in the past.
One option for people in the northeast is a company called JDM engineering.
www.teamjdm.com
They do alot of custom work/fabrication and their quality is top notch.
they helped me build a low mid 13 sec Lightning, thats naturally aspirated.
They could be an option. Also, JDM deals with Roush blowers.
One word of caution, they are very busy and their quality is so high, They do alot of work for Saleen now.
anyway, Below is the response about the blower I read about.

Hi John,
Performance options for your Trac are limited. Always a good first step is a performance reflash tune. For more info about the tuner, look here:

As far as a V8 supercharger for your Trac , I don't think that we'll be pursuing it. There are several others offering supercharger kits for the 4.6 3 valve engine. None have adapted their kit to fit Explorers because, I think, Explorer performance parts are notoriously soft selling. It is tremendously expensive to design and tool a new kit. Really only works out if the basic kit can be used on multiple models. Our 4.0 X-CHARGER works on Rangers, Explorers, ST and Mustangs. Most of the kits that we sell are for Mustangs and Rangers. Our Explorer kits are the slowest selling of that group.
The one glimmer of hope is the Roush 3 valve Mustang kit. The inlet is on the correct side for your Trac (the wrong side for a Mustang, don't know why they did it that way). With a little work on the inlet and custom tuning I think it could be made to work on an late Explorer 4.6. We are not a Roush distributor, so we can't help you.
There was a company, Allen Engineering, that made an Explorer 4.6 s/c kit, but they haven't adapted it to the 3 valve engine. As an example of the statement above, their kit fits trucks and Mustangs, but even with all those applications, I don't think that their sales ever reached the critical mass required for success.
Another negative for us is that the V8 engine is history, the future is twin turbo V6 for truck applications. Improved HP / torque / lighter / better fuel economy / lower emissions.
For more information, give us a call at 707-254-7025 Monday thru Thursday 10AM to 4PM Pacific time.
Thanks for your inquiry,
Dave Vanek

A few months ago I read a magazine article about a blower kit you were working on for a 4.6L Sport trac. Did you ever pursue that endevour?
I have a 2008 Ford Sport trac and I was wondering what performance options are available.
I beleive the 2008 is probably almost exactly like the 2007 Sport trac (4.6L engine).
thank you
