This is my first post since getting my 'new to me Explorer' last week--I just replaced my battery yesterday but when I start my truck, most of the time it takes a few seconds for it to actually kick over. No interior lights dim, the alternator gauge doesn't fluctuate. At a stop, after running for an extended period of time, it acts like it's about to stall. It only stalled once but I'm not sure if this would be the fuel filter, alternator or if I need the A/C system cleaned. Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys!

Check the entire battery cable to the starter for burns and corrosion at the starter contact point. If there is none then you may need a starter. Have you cleaned the IAC out recently or ever? How many miles on the vehicle? Any trouble codes set?

The other thought is possibly you have a bearing going out. Check everything spinning on the belts to see if something has high turning resistance when turned by hand with the belt loose or off. Have the AC turned off, and also you could check to see if the stalling goes away if the AC is turned off.

I doubt it's the fuel filter but if you haven't changed it in the last few thousands of miles, it's a cheap thing to do and be able to cross off your maintenance list.

I just bought it with 159K miles so I am just beginning to do any maintenance or repairs it needs. I do need to get the IAC cleaned as I have NO idea if it was ever done. I have no idea when or if the fuel filter was ever done either so I'll be doing that anyway. The only code that popped up was an O2 sensor, which I will doing in the next week or so.

What is the exact O2 code that you got? Because it's not likely a bad O2 sensor and something else tripping the code.

When I had it tested, it just said O2 sensor. I don't have my own code reader yet.
