So Im back on the forum after "awhile." Explorers gone, but the Rangers here:D oh yeah. So im going through the last 100 days of posting and the biggest "hit" post is "yawn"....This sucks!! Rangers ROCK. You guys know this!!!
SO..I'll hope to start a little conversation.
Quickly, my Ranger has an old but trusty Ford 9 rear, which incedently has saved my underprepared a## when the front went SNAP! I could still drive back out. Front is SAS 44 with arb which gets me into more trouble than it gets me out of.....
Enough b.s. My question is Do any of you run rear revolvers? The travel is sick...FOR EXAMPLE. Last time Im in MOAB, we "tag along" with the jeep crowd. No offense to any jeep dudes but they give the Ranger a smirk and say "sure, follow us, we got straps.." ok..we smile..First rock -big rock- the guy actually gets out to get his strap BEFORE I attempt. Now this is just rude. So we start climbing...and climbing...the revolvers expand and the rear keeps dropping as the strap guys eye's get bigger and bigger....What a sight, I wish I had my camera ready for the look on his face. I cant dog these guys because later on they fed us lunch :D And, obviously, gave a little more respect. Thanks jeepers!!
Anyway, I dont know a lot about a lot, but i'll contribute when I can..looking foward to mods (GEARING!!) and info from you more experienced guys. Later for now, see ya around.

ITs a type of shackle, That flexes REALLY well,

I just tried finding there ad in my magizine but couldnt. i would jsut search yahoo for there webpage.........

I love stories like that. I know the revolvers have been talked about but I'm not sure if anybody is running them.

I ran them on my jeep and loved them. i'm not sure if they are good for jumpin stuff though:D

Hey, thanks for the comments..
Ranger X Thanks! Its good to be back. As far as the pics, I have about 19 thousand, but old-school-regular-non-digital-type-pictures, plus I still have to learn how to post dig pics - not that it should be that hard. My sis has a digital camera but shes away in school in CA, so I WILL post, but it will be some time.
3773, like XPKid said, its just a fancy-smancy shackle that "unfolds" as the rear tire drops. This helps give a couple more inches of flex, but as SkyJ 44 said, they are not for "all around use"
Oh yes, my board name has always been the same, Just my name - im creative - I guess I just lurked around, read, but rarely posted. My join date is still the same at 2001 I think, but it started my posts over. I only had like 3 anyways :D
As far as MOAB goes WHooHOO!! Im going in to work tomorrow and politely telling them I NEED time off in May. Moab is my favorite place. Of course, I have a long checklist of stuff to fix before I go anywhere..My Tcase is cracked, this somehow ruined my trans(already on its way out) My 9 is leaking, the 44 has a exploded axle shaft- the hub is a goner, my power steering has magically dissapeared, etc, this could go on forever..but Im sourcing parts as we speak, May is far enough off, and this give me purpose!!
For anyone that remembers I attended the explorer Moab 2001 trip, I still have the pics - they're cool.
One last thing.,.Posi Vibes, about people talking about the Ranger + Revolvers...I called 'em up (Teraflex) and asked them, "Will these fit on my Ranger...Please!!" They said, "No." My mechanic (SAS guy) says to me "They have revolvers for the S10, same size approx, they'll work for you." I love that guy.
Going to check Moab thread.....

revolvers are crap man, they're for people worried about maxing out a ramp. in the real world of wheeling they'll cause nothing but problems. yeah you gain "hella flex" i know i know  but it's "un-sprung" flex which is bad. steep climbs and off camber situations those revolvers will un-load before the springs even move.

anyways, last guy i told this too with a ranger said i was fawkin stoopid... year later i told him "i told you so" as he complained about the ****ty characteristics of the revolvers.

flex is over-rated, learn how to drive :burnout:

In a vehicle without a good rear locker it seems like revolvers would help tremendously by keeping your tires on the ground, unsprung or not. I'm just not sure how the on road charachteristics would be going over bumps at speed. any of you guys that have used them have any coments about how they work on pavment and at speed on dirt roads?

Aaron,

I recently rolled my ranger (in a non-offroad situation) and the cab is pretty much destroyed. Im considering chopping off the remaining body panels and building a vehicle similar to the one pictured above ( judging my your signature, im taking it that it is yours.) And suggestions on choppin it to hell, and for basic wheeling (no real rockcrawling here in new england, just some harsh trails) how strong is the d35 ttb up front? would it be worth swapping in a d30 out of a comanche that i can get for free? I plan on running somewhere in the 35 inch tire range, and it wont be seeing much pavement anymore (just from the trialer to the trail.) Any suggestions on what to cut, what to replace, and what i can fab up for cheap that will help out?

Also, i am a full time college student, so i have about as much money as that guy infront of dunkin donuts colecting your spare change. Thanks guys.

Hmmm, Im not sure everyone who runs revolvers is a ramp *****..I actually have no idea what my truck "ramps" as I've never tried. Also, I wouldn't say you gain "hella flex," I would say a couple of inches. (Actually I did say this.)
My question in response is "would you say ALL flex caused by revolvers is "bad?"

anyways, last guy i told this too with a ranger said i was fawkin stoopid... year later i told him "i told you so" as he complained about the ****ty characteristics of the revolvers.

Yeah, Im not going to start calling anyone names. I DO see your point. As I said in my post, "They (the revolvers) are not for all around use." So I guess we're in agreement.

Uh..???? Well, thanks for the advice.
 See ya out there....
