2006 Explorer XLT
Hello, I'm Steve. I recently inherited (left to me from my father) a 2006 Explorer XLT 4.0, Gold with tan leather interior, 3rd row seating. It has 128,000 miles. He didn't maintain it much the last few years so I've had a LOT of work done to it recently and still ongoing. All fluids and filters, lower ball joints, plugs, wires, coil, Thermostat and housing, temp sensor, belt, idler and tensioner. I Also had to have the PCM sent out for repair which solved all my check engine lights. Also had 2 TPMS sensors replaced. Its going in for a new headliner next Saturday and then to window tinting. Still have to get the rear A/C fixed, probably struts and rotors, then some new tires, stereo and I need to have the drivers seat redone. Im probably putting more money into it than I should, but I feel i need to get it back into top shape, drive it and enjoy it.
Is there any problems or issues I should be looking into on this model? Also if anyone has any suggestions for cool upgrades or modifications, please let me know. I enjoy tinkering with it.

Thanks!
Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve. I have heard that the wires that go through the boot from the l/s front door can crack from constant opening & closing & possibly cause problems.

Welcome to the forum. That explorer still looks new.

Thanks. There is a few chips in the paint on the plastic front and rear bumpers. It needs new fog lights, the lens are gone and the headlights need replaced too, they are pretty bad.

Overall, it looks very clean. Aftermarket fog lights and headlights withstand the sun better than factory.

Any suggestions on a brand or where I could get some?
