Trolling around the net via google has led me to this forum and from my brief time here I can already tell there is a wealth of knowledge here. I just picked up a 97 mountaineer AWD with a 5.0L engine, I am pleasantly surprised with the power it makes however like anything im sure there are mods I can do for gains here and there? Obviously I will let the thread searching begin to cover most of my NOOB questions but as a brief description of what im working with here it goes.
1997 Mercury Mountaineer AWD
Overall pretty nice condition although it does have alot of miles 180K
It does have a couple issues right off the bat one of which is what brought me here the BLEND DOOR FAILURE. As of right now im not sure what the problem is as when I turn the hot cold dial NOTHING happens, I dont hear the clicking or anything like that so im not completely sure what the problem is I just know it wont come off of FULL HOT.
Another issue is the drivers door window im told the armature that actually holds the glass has gotten bent and the previous owner propped the window up but the motor still works. So I may pull the armature out of the door and see about straightening it or just replace it period as it doesnt appear to be that expensive of a part really.
All in all I really like the rig and look forward to modding it, first of all fixing the small problems to get it back to 100% then ill move toward things like TRUE DUALS for a nice mustang sound, Cold Air Intake, Cranking up the torsion bars, installing 31" offroad tires, aside from these things im open to suggestions from the veterans here who know what to do to make things happen.
Anyway glad to be here and hope to learn all I can about my RIG!!!!
