WOW! This site rocks!!!
Just wanted to say hi- I am new to this board and have found it very useful... I decided to buy an Explorer partially based on this site (because there is such a following of others who have them, and I will not be alone if I have a problem...) Anyway, I recently bought a 1998 Eddie Bauer 5.0, and it is a pretty cool ride... I bought it off a "financial advisor" in my hometown who bought it new at the local dealership. It has high miles @ 120,000, but he had it to the shop fairly regularly. I have gleaned the archives, and still am not sure on a somethin'...

How much do the Warrior Shackles raise the rear?

Mine sits about 1/2 to 3/4 lower in the rear and its drivin me nuts! I figure the shackles might be the fix...(?)

Anyway, sorry for the long post, and thanks for any help!

If you want to return your rear springs to stock height, an add-a-leaf kit is the better way to go. Kits are available in single leaf kits that usually give you about an inch, or double leaf kits which are good for about 2.5". These leafs will stiffen up your now sagged stock springs and return them to close to a stock arch. Shackles do lift the rear about 1.5-2", but if you're not looking for lift and just to fix the sag, leafs are probably better.

Explorer ProComp kits are available through 4WheelParts. The singe is about $25 and the double about $75. The WAR153 shackles are also available through them for about $50.

Good luck!

Welcome to the site:) The Warrior shackles will be easier to install than add-a-leafs.
I would like to invite you to check out a Kansas City area site. Just click on the link below.

Thanks!!!

Hey- thanks for the input!!! I am going to look into both the shackles and the add-a-leaf and decide which I want to tackle- I really appreciate the info...

The KC Explorers site is pretty cool too...

Anyway, I'll keep ya'll updated on my decision (and whether it helped...;)

i have pics of the shackles if you want to see how i put mine on. just PM me and ask for them.
