Hello to everybody...Just joined today. I got interested because I got info on this site from mikeh on changing the plugs and wires on my 98 explorer w/4.0 SOHC. Job went well...so thanks mikeh.

Basics are the SAme

Hello & welcome! I am fortunate enough to have gotten into the technical aspects of EFI 20 years ago and taught classes involving the subject.

One thing which seemed to escape everyone: The basics are unchanged. That is, the engine needs air, fuel, and ignition in order to run. The mechanical internals are mainly also unchanged, crankshaft, pistons and rods, valves, and so on.

So, encountering problems, eng. won't start, for example, we look first at those basics: is it getting air, fuel, and ignition. If yes, then the mystery deepens! imp
