Hey guys. Im lookin at picking up an explorer for a winter/beach vehicle. Im going to look at a 99 xls on saturday. It has 152000 miles. He says te only problem is it "squeeks". My friends did this and i know its not tooo expensive to fix. Im gonna provide a link below. You guys think this is a good price and will be a reliable winter vehicle?

Welcome to this forum! That looks like an excellent ford explorer! For the price I'd say definately buy it. One problem with it, and you say its a not too expensive fix, then its definately worth it. My 98 has been reliable for all the years I've had it.

Looks like a good deal to me. I bought my 2001 Eddie Bauer 5.0L with 120K miles that was a trade in at our dealership for $3500. It is mint condition with every option available. Put $300 in it and drive it daily.

looks nice good find

Go For It!!!

Not too high mileage and it looks to be in good shape.

Welcome to the forum. I hope we will all be able to help with any questions or problems you may have.

Its listed as 4x4 but im not sure if it is. Are all expporers 4x4? I know its a dumb question but i jus wanna make sure. And also what problem spots should i look for when i go check this thing out?

The easiest way to check is to look at the center controls. There should be a 4X4 AUTO, 4X4 HIGH, 4X4 LOW switch. Thats a guarantee that its 4wd. There are a fair amount of 2WD explorers out there. I agree with brooklyn with what to check, and get a car fax report. Make sure the brakes are good by giving it a few nice brakings with no hands on the wheel (make sure you do this on a road with no one else there).
