Hello Everyone. I'm a new member - Steve (19 years old). I'm not even sure how to use the forums and posts, so be patient please.
I just bought a 2000 Explorer XLT 4dr 4x4. I love it. 84,000 miles. It was in an accident but had it checked out and said everything looked good. It has a salvage title and paid $3200 for it. Too late if I got ripped off.
I have been looking through some of the forums to get some help with some repairs I need to do.
1. Rear wiper motor replacement - I found a thread that looks helpful and I will find the part and see how things go.
2. Fog lights don't work - I found threads, but I'm not sure I understand them. I don't know a lot of cars. The lens assembly is fine. It appears that the wiring harness has powering going to it. What I'm looking for is the socket and bulb that connects to the harness then locks into the lens assembly. If I understand what I'm reading, I think I'm seeing that you have to buy the whole fog light assembly which appears to be $40-70 Each. Does anyone have any other suggestions (cheaper) for a fix? Or where can I get it? The fix can't be too complicated because as I said, I don't know a lot about cars and if anyone has pictures that would be great (I'm a visual person).
3. Drivers door won't lock - it sounds like it functioning when you lock and unlock, but the rod won't go up and down. Does anyone have pictures of how to take the door panel off? Or a link to a thread that shows this? I'm hoping I just need to clean it, but if not what part is needed and where is a good place to get it?
I'm looking forward to sharing information and getting my know my vehicle better.
