hi i am in a real bind here
i have heard form a "pro" that you need to have proper timing on your 4.0 sohc engine vin e
he said " you must turn the engine to stop and then you will have proper time(stating a tool you place into the key??)" now once i have everything on the engine (everything is all timing parts) here is what i dont' get how in the world dose that effect the time?

yes i took off the jack shaft sprocket and he told met hat could throw the timing out of whack i see that

but i do not understand how to reset it

i have been searching threw this form an on line now for over six hours each day for four days
and have found nothing
every post i have found skips that part!
no joke

can anyone in plane English give me step by step how to set the timing on this nightmare

i don't want to do something wrong and then pings later have a bunch of bent valves that this "pro" was saying i would have
and i am ""ing pro cause i am not sure if he was taking me for a ride or not

i have the tool and the kits
none of them came with instructions like everyone told me they would

please help me and please mods take some pitty
i have a three mile walk to work and back each day
have been at this for three months and short version is i have alot biger problems including a blown left knee that won't last much longer
and winter is comming fast I NEED THIS TRUCK BACK its all i can afford and hope for please someone give me the exact step by step to set the timing
