2004 XLT
This is my first posting as I have just joined.
I am having a major problem with rough idling with my 2004 Ford Explorer XLT. The mechanic has replaced the spark plugs and also had the computer reprogrammed but it is still idling rough. She drives beautifully but the idling is a major problem.
Does anyone have a solution? Or similar dilemma?
Thanks,
Anna

My mechanic did a compression test and also said there are no codes showing up on the computer.
We are trying to see this vehicle and this idling issue is really a big stumbling block.
My gas mileage has been terrible during this time also.
I am going to mention the MAF and the IAC valve.
Are they expensive to clean?
Thanks!

I tried to disconnect the IAC yesterday but I couldn't unclip the wires going to it. Is there some kind of secret way to do it? I tried pulling it off after sliding the red clip forward but I still could not disconnect it.
I thought I would start by cleaning that out first.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to this forum! Have the mechanic check the fuel pressure. The fuel filter could be clogged. I think your system might have the newer variable pressure pump set up without a fuel pressure regulator, and return line, but I'm not sure which year they started to do it this way.
