Hey all,

First, thanks for all of the info. I was looking at buying this truck from a friend for a while and this site helped with all of the info on common problems, engines, transmissions, t-cases, towing capacities, gear ratios, etc.

Second, I plan on keeping it stock save for a few things:

Replacing the factory Class II with a load dist. Class III.
Cold Air Intake or other simple mods.
Header/Exhaust if I magically start to grow spare time somehow :smoke:

Looking forward to having a nice vehicle for a long time.

Welcome to the forum. I would say add an electric fan to your list if you are looking for some better fuel mileage.

Thanks all!

Yes, I definitely understand the slippery slopes of automotive mods. I just sold my last 22R Toyota 4x4 and 1 Moto; I have a DD car, 1 newer Moto, and 2 Buick GN's (1 in progress, 1 unrestored). I am working on getting down to 1 DD truck, 1 hobby car, and 1 Moto.

2TimingTom I helped build a bunch of Trails in Highlands Ranch a few years back. Hope you like them lol! :D

The dirt trails? Yeah, I love them. Except all of those humps that seriously impede your progress (and speed- which I suppose is their point). I live very near them and can ride to them. But even still, I tend to ride the actual MTB trails in nearby JeffCo.

Yes, gotta love the bumps haha. I think we built that trail for strollers lol.

I agree there are some really nice MTB oriented trails around there too. Can't wait to be back out West and ride excellent trails again. Actually bought this truck partially to move myself and a car trailer back to CO from the Midwest (side note; I researched all appropriate trailer info before I purchased).

I've never seen a stroller- or seen any indication of a stroller, on those trails.

I was just kidding. BTW, I read the build thread, you were not kidding.

Wanna see some pictures, post them up when you can! Welcome to SE!

Right on, I am out of town for work, so maybe Friday. It is a super clean truck, owned by 1 family it's whole life and maintained according to the manual.

Thanks again everyone.

Glad to have you on the forums! Can't wait to see pics, it's amazing how far these Explorers will go if you treat them right!

Wow, sounds like a nice one. Waiting in for the Friday pictures.

Here they is! I hope you can get a good look at it, the garage lighting is a bit dim. :D

Interior looks clean! How many miles are on it?

88k right now. It's not my DD, and probably won't be until October. I'll drive it this summer when I need to haul stuff, go camping etc. In that time I will do the basic mods that I mentioned.

Uh oh, rear end sag. I'll probably start out fixing that and end up 3 years later with an SAS truggie LOL. I'm sure I'll research options, but today is too nice out not to be on a motorcycle. Adios
