- 2002 Ford Explorer EB
Hi Guys,
New to Explorer Forums, but not explorers.
My name is Rod, and I recently acquired my family's "hammy downs" 2002 Ford Explorer.
Its a Eddie Bauer Edition, 4.6L V8, 4x4. My family owned it since brand new.
here is a picture when its all cleaned up.
it needs some work such as:
-front struts
-serpentine belt
-maybe some body work if I really love it that much
-fixing mics things
my other cars are:
1995 BMW 530i
1990 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon (currently for sale/pending sale)
I may acquire a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 500SL soon, so obviously I am a car buff. I do work myself, as I am a technician at a small indy shop.
Recently my explorer has thrown a CEL light presenting code P0340 (i think?) it is a cam position sensor malfunction code. Since then I have replaced the sensor with an original motorcraft sensor (du-72). The code is still present.
I still need to trace the wiring to make sure its getting power, and also i heard it might be caused by low battery voltage, which i havent had any problems with the car, but yet to hook up a battery load tester.
Could anyone comment on possible issues that could pop this code? the car has no driveability issues. I am not driving it currently, and know with this code i shouldnt be driving it much as the cam sensor adjusts the fuel mapping.
Thanks in advance!
