new member with brake problems

just joined today cause i can't seem to find info on my 03 explorer. trying to remove rear rotor but e-brake shoes are hanging up on lip/rust on inside of rotor. tried prying and hammering but as rotor starts coming off, it pulls e-brake shoes with, shoes **** inside rotor and rotor will not come off any further. there is no access hole in backing plate to retract shoes with star wheel. what do i do? any help would be appreciated. thanx

Welcome to this forum! Did you check to see if the parking brake is applied? There is an adjustment for the parking brake. It might be partially engaged. Check this thread for more information: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147823

thanx brooklynbay for the link to the thread. i had to pull on the e brake cable under the vehicle and insert drill bit in hole at the e brake lever to release spring tension. i still had to pry and hammer the rotor off and it did pull the linings off the e brake shoes but the rotor did finally come off. thanx again
