Hi All...
My name is EdR and I my wife and I have owned our 99 EB Explorer since new. It's been a great car, with the only issue being the well known intake manifold leak, which caused the usual stall issues. We had Ford resolve that for us, but I perform most normal maintenance that I feel comfortable with. At my age (70) I have learned that there are times that writing a check tops me trying to get the issue resolved.
About two weeks ago I experienced an uncommanded acceleration while leaving our home in South Lake Tahoe. It got my attention and after searching the topic I found this forum.
I'd like to thank everyone who has shared their knowledge. I find reading the various forum topics on my year Explorer very helpful.
As I start the process of resolving this potential issue (I can't help but picture my wife in some close quarters parking lot when the car takes off on her) I hope to share what I have found.
Being a California car, its a solid good looking red car even with 132K miles. It's never been garaged (we don't have basements here in California, so the garage has become our storage area
and the paint is in great shape.
Anyway, thanks in advance for all of your comments and assists.
