Yesterday I installed a new Motorcraft front hub on the passenger side of my 2006 explorer. I did the driver side about a year ago. When I went to route the new wire up to the engine compartment, I noticed that the rubber bushings along the wire we’re not in the places where they were on the original hub wire.
I wouldn’t have been shocked if this happened on an aftermarket hub but I was a little surprised being it was a Motorcraft hub I bought off Amazon. I considered reusing the original wire but instead I made a few bushings out of the small piece of fuel line to secure the wire.
The attached picture shows the new hub with the wire as well as the original wire still hanging down in the wheel well. Not just in a different spot but also the long tapered bushing is the first one, instead of further up the wire.
Has anyone else experienced this with a Motorcraft hub? A friend of mine suggested perhaps it was a counterfeit part.

What was the part number for the hub? The numbers on your picture don't come up as anything

I still have the box at home, I’ll get a picture tonite.

I have a feeling it’s because I ordered hub 67, not 29, which I believe would have had the correct wire. EXPLORER PL...you know the answer...lets hear it

On my 06, build date 08/05 the VIN search calls for HUB29 which is about 50% more expensive.
For the past probably 8-10 years I have been ordering HUB67 and were not even changing the wire, just unscrewing the little bolt on the hub and just reinstalling it on the new hub. Only once I had a case where the wire went actually bad. It was triggering the error code but the hub was ok so I replaced the wire.
On one of them (not sure 29 or 67) you get extra bolts (3 vs 5) and they are for caliper bracket so I was told.
I also order them from Amazon and always had a good luck with them.
HUB67 is listed for 3rd generation Explorers 02-05

Now, the numbers on the hub make no sense to me.
I have 5 (yes five) used hubs in my garage and none of them has part numbers stamped on the front face, but they all have "TIMKEN MADE IN USA" engraved on the rear seal. You already installed it but did you see any writing on the back ?
Also, the 67's that I ordered had the right wire since I keep them somewhere in the garage and was able to use it when I needed.
What kind of box did it come in ? Mine came in regular cube box with Motorcraft sticker on the top and stapled shot.
Did you drive it ? How does it drive ?

PS:
Did it look like that ?

Sorry for the delay, here’s a picture of the box label, as well as the invoice, Which I just opened for the first time tonight and see the notes about a superseded part number. I await everyone’s professional opinions on this. Thank you

I am totally confused but I think you are fine.

That part comes back as "Brake repair kit" ???????
But I was decoding the part number and it translates that this part is for 2002 car.
I also see that this part is listed for 02-05 explorers and mountaineers which would confirm the first 2 digits G2.
I think 3rd and 4th gen explorers were using the same hubs, different wires and that's what you got - a replacement part for 3rd gen.

If it works, no noise, no codes I would not think much.

But it looks different from what Michael got. It does not have the flange with the 3 mounting holes.

Thanks for all your help guys it does drive nice and quiet and no ABS or traction control codes present. I was a little stumped by wire mounting bushings being different but other than that it’s OK by me. If it really bothered me, I could have really used the old wire and probably saved myself 10 minutes of routing the new one. I was aware of the existence of either Hubbs 67 or hub 29 for these trucks, but was unfamiliar with this hub 30 until I saw the invoice after I got home from work tonight. Thanks again for everybody’s help.

Weird they would sell you a 2005 part for your 2006 vehicle...I would have sold you the correct Ford/Motorcraft one for that price!
Let me know if you need anything else, I'm trying to get rid of this pile of parts I have.
