Hey all,
I just installed a new PCM into my '93 X. This is the 2nd of 2. The one I installed before this ran the truck well for about 45 mins, after which it wouldn't properly control the overdrive switch. That was weird, because in any gear other than overdrive it would drive as if the brake was being depressed.
I got the re-manufactured PCM's from Cardone (sells through Autozone.) I am wondering what, if anything, needs to be done before I begin driving it normally. Is there any process that I need to follow after installing a new PCM? Letting it idle for a specified amount of time before driving it? Staying in one gear for an allotted amount of time? Etc.
--- Begin Edit ---
I am experiencing a problem with the tranny now. The truck doesn't want to shift up into drive or overdrive after changing the computer (PCM) out to the remanned one. Reverse, 1, and 2 seem fine. I have verified that I bought the right part by matching the OEM #'s. I have only started and run it 4 times so far. A friend told me that it takes 40 ignition cycles for the computer to learn, but that seems like a bunch of hooey. I will take it out for a while tomorrow and see what happens and gather more info. It just seems that after plugging the PCM in it should just work.
--- End Edit ---
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
