I just ordered an audiobahn system off thezeb.com for a friend. It includes a A1500HCX 2000w amp... and two AW120Q 4 ohm subs.
She got a 24v 1 farad cap, all 4 gauge plat wiring, 150amp anl fuse, everything good to go.

My q is... will it sound good (to her, good is decently loud... actually, pretty loud. She is a rap girl, so SQ is probably only about 20% important)? Those subs in parallel will pump put 1000wrms so I think that is pretty decent for $70 subs.... but she could also add another two or get better subs...

Also, you audiobahn gurus... for a small BMW 325ci, what would the best type/size of enclosure be?
Thanks doods... I'm an audiobahn newb!

You spent that much money on your amp.. that much on all your wiring.. you even got a cap.. BUT!!! you only spent $70 for each sub?? You get what you pay for.. I personally dont like audiobahn subs but I guess we'll see soon enough how she likes it;)

The subs are rated at 500wrms and were apparently $160, but they slashed prices... ohh well.
We got all that amp power so she could be pretty flexible with her subs.... if she doesn't like these, she has two months to send them back for a full refund.
Plus, with 2000wrms @ 1 ohm, she has plenty of headroom for some hefty subs ;)

If its not enough just get 2 more subs and run at 1 ohm......... oh how much trunk space is in the beemer?

That was her plan too... but I really dont believe that trunk will take all that space.
I think she will probably return those and get something else from thezeb.com like two of the LA storm series 12s.... she likes the looks of those

BTW, it sounds REALLY good. BMW trunks are extremly tightly buildt and sound doesn't escape them well, but those by far the best $70 subs I have ever heard. The bass hits HARD and is very acurate.... rock sounds excellent with a good bass geetar!

Well, she took some pics for me with her Camcorder, they arent the best, but I will get better ones when I get back. Here is my first BMW install...

:D Trust me, it sounds good, even for the super-soundproof trunks of the bimmers.

Looks pretty damn good too! I thought those trunks were a little bigger than that, guess it's been awhile since I've seen one... Good job Nate!

Seems like my domain is down for a few.
That box is .8cu ft per sub... so its pretty large... but no, the trunks are small. They are also very soundproof. Before I removed some sheetmetal, you could close the trunk and it would sound stock ... now it sounds nice loud and clean.

Where'd you remove sheetmetal from? Behind the rear seats I assume? Also, if you didn't already do so, pulling the carpet down helps a bunch.

Where the armrest comes down, you know that little access hole into the trunk? From the factory, BMW stamps a cutout into the foam and preforates the sheetmetal so all you have to do is kick it and it pops out. That did plenty. I will see what she says about removing the carpet and saving it, but she is trying to keep resale value on the car high ;)

Can't you just temp fold it down from the top of the rear seats? That's what I did in my old Intrepid, then when I took the box out and sold it I just pinned it back up against the seats! Really easy to do, BMW might have a different way of attaching it if the seats fold though...

Heres how the wall goes, going from trunk to seat:

1" thick dampening pad.... standard painted sheetmetal layer.... 1" thick dampening pad again.... leather seat.

I took out the second dampening pad and sheet metal.... it sounds decent, but I want to take the other pad out too.... I just don't know if I need to. The bass is already loud and clear.... it is all up to her.

Ohh, and I forgot to add: she says its the best $800 system she has ever heard ;) She likes audiobahn I think, and has no intentions of upgrading subs just yet ;).
