New to the board, have a few ?'s

Whats up everyone, I just found this board tonight while running a search on google for Explorer parts. I bought a 95 XLT last Fall and so far Ive been very happy with it besides the poor light output.

I polished the headlight lenses today and that made them look alot better but now Im looking to upgrade the bulbs. Im planning on going with either the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras or Extravisions... opinions?

Also my stock fog light housings are really dirty, I polished the outside of the lenses but it didnt really help much. I found OEM replacements on Ebay but what aftermarket options do I have?

Im looking for something that will easily mount in the stock foglight location.

Last question, what window visors do you guys reccomend?

A lot of people like the regular Silverstars. If your X uses 9007 bulbs look at the bulbs in this thread:

What do you mean by window visors? Do you mean like Ventshades? If that's the case I have used Ventshades and like them a lot.

Yeah, ventshades. I noticed there was a few brands to choose from, was looking for some opinions?


After doing some research on another forum I decided to go with GE Nighthawk bulbs but I still need to do something about the fog lights.

Has anybody bought these replacement lenses?

I too am very happy with SilverStar bulbs.

I have vent shades and you can barely tell they are there. Which is exactally what I wanted.
The work just fine for me.

Let me also say the silverstars are a great choice.

Those JD HIR bulbs won't work in the 2nd gens, but I have to say the Silverstar Ultras are much better than the regular silverstars. So much so that my girlfriend even noticed a difference between the two.

I had the same problem

I had the same problem with poor lighting from my Ex and it sounds like its the same as yours. One of the first mod's i did was i bought diamond cut clear lense headlights and corner lights. Total cost was around $45 shipping included. I've tried all kinds of bulbs but right now im running with Hella's top brand ( dont remember the name) My lights are so bright on low beams that people think i got my high beams on now. I'm constantly getting flashed. so thats one suggestiong for you .
