Hey my name is Tim, I have a 2004 Ranger xlt .off road package with only 56,000 miles . I just found out from the Ford dealer that the rear timing chain broke and put a hole through my block and need a new engine . Anyone have any idea what the truck would be worth without an engine if I wanted to sell it , no rust good body practically new . Dealer tells me it's almost 6000 to replace the motor, and I'm thinking the whole truck is probably worth 7 - 8,000 thousand. What are some of your thoughts on fixing it or selling it

Welcome to this forum! Get an engine from the junkyard, and find out how much a local shop will charge to install it.

Now trying to find out how the engine could run with a broken timing belt, the backstory on this is that I sent it to the dealer because it had a miss in the engine it would start and run fine for the first minute and then would start missing .I would turn it off and turn it back on and it would run right for the first minute and then go into the sequence of missing again. I never heard any kind of noise coming from the engine from the timing chain.
