New to the sight, but same problems as everyone else.

I have a '98 Ranger 4x4. The 5R55E died the other day. I lost drive and reverse. I have 1st and 2nd and I can shift into drive at about 45 mph and all the upper gears work fine. I tried replacing the VB, VB gasket, filter, and fluid to no help. So, I'm going to replace it or have it rebuilt. I called a junk yard and they said only a '98 5R55E would work with my computer. My question is can I use other year 5R55E's to replace mine. I'd appreciate any info on this.

Welcome to this forum! Make sure that the replacement transmission has the same sensors, and electrical connections.
