Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say hey in my first post and also ask a question.

I've got a 98 XLT 4x4 with the 4.0SOHC. It's running like a champ but I decided to pick up a backup motor just in case, I think I may have screwed up though 'cause it's a 4.0SOHC from a 99 4x4. I see differences here and there and am worried that I may have really screwed up.

If my OEM 98 SOHC motor bites the dust, can I use this 99 SOHC I just bought? (are they compatible?) wiring, sensors, bellhousing patterns, front engine dress etc?

I ran a search but didn't seem to come up with anything definitive enough, so I aplogize if this is the 1,000,000,000th time this has been asked. If you have a hotlink for a thread that discusses this, I'd really appreciate it.

It should be the same (or clese enough) for the long block to work. My engine is a 2000 model year (in a 98) so I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you.
