My son had a new radio put in our '97 XLT. The 4WD six blink thing showed up. I started to look into it when also I noticed the center bezel for the dash was coming out on it's own. What I found was the two screws that retain the bezel had been over tightened, and they had broken through the plastic. Upon further investigation when pulling the bezel out a bit I noticed the center two wires to the 4WD selector switch were out of the connector block, and will not stay in. What is the problem with the connector block is the tabs that retain the wires in the block are broken off. I am guessing it is from the wires being pulled out of the block (forcefully). I can put it all together, but the wires will work their way back out of the connector block, and the 4WD light blink starts all over again. To properly fix it I will need to get my hands on a good connector block.
