Hey everybody, new to this site and actually not an Explorer owner (yet). I'm looking for a 1997 - 2000 for my daughter who is on a tight budget ($3K max). Most I have seen advertised have high miles. Just wanted to get an idea on what kind of things I need to look for when going over a potential truck. Any help is very much appreciated.
I'm sure that when she gets an Explorer, I will be using this site to learn the ins and outs of the beast, since I am the resident mechanic for all our vehicles.

Welcome to this forum! Check the tires, belts, brakes, fluids, A/C, heat, 4WD, lights, etc.

Thanks BrooklynBay, but I was looking for any particular issues that the 1997 - 2000 Explorer's may have, such as front wheel bearings, etc. Just trying to be an informed buyer. Thanks for your help.

Check the blend door, and the list of TSB's. Scan the PCM for stored codes.
