Newbie here

Just signed up to be a member of this forum.

The reason I joined is that I am looking for information on Explorers. Currently I drive a F250 4x4. With the gas prices it is a bit more than I need. I thought I would change to an Explorer. I was hoping to get some opinions on what years were the best for Explorer. I would say I am looking at the years 1999 through 2004, hoping most will answer 2002.

My usage is as a daily driver. Mainly on-road driving, with a little off-road driving. Minimal towing if any, any towing would be a small fishing boat. I do want 4x4 and am fine with 6 cylinder.

I welcome everyone's opinions, you guys are the users.

welcome, i hope you know that explorers dont get the best MPG, about 20, I have a 1998 and love it.

Yeah, I'm not worried about MPG to much, I'm just getting tired of 11.5 to 12 MPG. So if I can get up to 17 to 20 I'll be fine. I only drive about 12,000 miles per year. So by my math I should save about 340 gallons of gas a year. And at the current prices that'll be at least $680. Then factor in that my F250 runs premium (damn chip) I'll save even more.
