Hi Guys
Just a quick hello to introduce myself.
Back in December bought a bargain of a 98 Explorer. Set about sorting out the niggles and ignoring the drastic front end rattle.
So after fitting an original 6 disc changer and fitting kit, repairing original RDS 7000 stereo, sorting e brake, straightening the front bumper brackets and dropping the sump to take out the bits of tensioner from the pick up, i've been ragging around having fun.
Finally decided to sort out chains rattle after saving the penies and OMG!!!! She shouldn't have been able to run as the main tensioner guide is non existent and the lower half of the bottom tensioner is missing.
Thankfully i had bought a full kit in preparation of what might be found so fingers crossed all will be well soon.

I'm lovin the power but the ride took a bit of getting used to as my daily ride is a Saab 9000 (don't laugh it was free from my pops and just keeps going with minimal servicing etc)
Well thats me.
If any other uk members want to point me in the direction of tried and tested parts suppliers that would be cool.

(mr) jan olsson (the name is Swedish but been bout 8 generations British. My mum was a hippy and thought that resurrecting a swedish first name was apt. pronounced Yan).:salute:

Can i ask did you manage to source a UK based suppliers for standard & upgrade parts.
I'm new here but would like to get a sensible price 2" all round lift on my 1998 Explorer but I have very limited knowledge of the vehicle & never tried to do a suspension lift on anything before?
Cheers

Assuming these Explorers have torsion bar front suspension, raising them is a bit tricky. I had to straighten a torsion bar once that had been bent a bit in a slide down an embankment. Had trouble even getting it out of it's hex-pocket in the control arm. Ride height could be increased by use of longer adjustment bolts which bear against the tang on the torsion bars. However, alignment, primarily camber, would be affected. imp
