96-97 ford aerostar
:aerostar: Well, where to begin. The Aerostar, the best work van that i've owned. have had three so far, a 94, a 97 and now a 96. Wish my 97 was still in good shape, although i do still have it. A true FORD purist, first 94 was a 3 litre, ok but underpowered for loads. Still, got the job done. second was the 97, extended with the 4 litre. I was sold! Never spent more than 4 k on any of these and have had good fortune with them. Ok, ok... I also owned a 94 Ranger that I thought was the best small truck on the planet. Had a shell on the back but reallllly got tired of crawling into to get tools and supplies. So, the Aerostar was the next step, same engine and drivetrain I would guess. Have ben realy happy with the 4 litre and 5 speed, on the 97 only! The 96 has been ok but I have been plagued with problems. First was the tranny which I still refuse to be looked at, shifts strangely and seems to hesitate to go into second. However, I have searched this site for my latest delima which is no start when the engine is hot. I did find out today that it may be the fuel pump, according to my mechanic. Here are the symptoms, or should I say how I fixed the problem. Brought my fuel pressure guage with me today to see if there was no pressure with the no start, well 30 lbs. solid, maybe low, maybe guage not accurate. BUT, when I relieved the pressure to remove the gauge, it just kept flowing, but not solid fuel, i'd have to say more like air and fuel. Then after bleeding that off it would climb back up to 15 lbs quickly. Did this 4 times before pressure finally stayed at 0. However, when I do this the engine, a 4 litre, fires right up. Anyone have this problem? I refuse to go to any other van!!!!!!!!!:aerostar:

Welcome to this forum! What kind of work do you do? My response to your starting issue is in your other thread. You might want to post some information about your three Aerostars in the how many Aerostars do you own or have owned sticky thread in the Aerostar section.
