Wondering what I should do next. Should I do the MAS and throttle body next, or go with the exhaust?

I should be getting my KKM intake hopefully this thursday....

Opening up the exhaust will gain you the most power increase. Think of it this way, If you can breathe in easier, then breathing out should be just as easy. That way you get more oxygen to your blood. Same idea in a motor. The 4.0L is quite proficient in the terms of the MAS and throttle body. You won't see as much gains unless a supercharger is installed then the MAS and TB really come into play. After the exhaust, get an Apten chip.

how much are the apten chips, where can i guy one?

Check out the Apten thread in "Group Buys".

thanks, that was my logic, then I read something about doing the MAS and TB at the same time.

I was going to do the MAS last if anything, since its probably the most expensive.

My overall goals in the long run are more acceleration and throttle response, as well as HP. I don't really go wheeling yet since theres not much in my area.

i vote for the exhaust

i have a K&N, TB and a chip

i think that the exhaust would be money well spent at this point for you

i went out of order cause i jumped on good prices for some used stuff and it was really easy to intall the TB, exhaust would be a little more difficult to tackle while i am at school

definitely exhaust is next. if you asked me it should've been first.

exhuast, kkm, and chip is going to be the best all around upgrades, as all the otehr ones wont make that much of a difference without more serious modifications

Any comments on the difficulty of installing a catback exhaust system yourself? (The bolt-on type)

I heard the hardest part is actually getting the old stuff off.

Also, I tried to search, but there were entirely too many results to sift through to get any real information - where is the best place to order a catback exhaust system from? I'm looking to find the best deal on a Flowmaster 40 or 50 catback system.

Thanks!

from what I heard and read I think the best bet with the flowmaster is to order just the muffler, then go to a local shop and have them do the pipes for you.

Thats my plan anyway. Im not sure if flowmaster has an entire cat back setup for that muffler.

It will probably be cheaper to do it that way anyway.

Summit racing has the FlowMaster 50 Cat Back series cat back system on sale for $140. The pipes it comes with are aluminized and will out last the cheapo pipes a lot of shops use. The hardest part is getting the old stuff off.. I grinder with a cutting blade make short work of this...
