2003 Explorer V8 Limited
Hey everybody. I have now got my second Explorer. 2003 V8 Limited. When I first start it up ( and the engine is cold) and drive off I have really crappy power in the engine, also it sounds like it is sucking in air a lot of air. I don't like to push it when it does this. After it warms up, it is totally fine. It happens everytime it is cold, even when I am going down hill it has a loud sucking noise with hardly any power. Any help would be great. Thank you all for keeping this site going strong. :)

sounds vacuum or fuel related. loud sucking could be the lines grabbing air from outside. do you have start fluid or a propane torch that can spit only gas out (without flame)? if so release some around the black plastic lines in your engine compartment with the engine running. if you hear an acceleration in RPM's, its a vacuum leak.

Also, the PCV valves on the V8's are a known problem that may be related to your problem. good luck
