Today I got my brand new Kicker speakers (2 way) and Alpine amp. I was very exsited to see that package sitting on the porch. Right away I grabbed some tools and started putting the speakers in. I knew I wouldn't have enough time to do both the fronts and backs. I started in the back because the grilles just popped off. To see how they sound, I connected them to the factory wiring (Crutchfield sent me the harnesses for free, which made it easy). I then realized the tweeter wasn't creating any voice. They had a very slight hum. The fronts where the only speakers creating voice. Right away I connected the stock speakers up and they only created bass, as well. I never noticed that before today. I recently put in a new headunit (Pioneer DEH-4000UB). Is there a setting to send highs to the back or is it set up to be this way. Normally I wouldn't mind this but I have 2 12" subs in the back, so I would rather have the voices.

I now know that it is not the speakers because I plugged the RCA cables into the front leads on the back of the H.U.. I got voice in the rear speakers. If I can not figure out the problem, I will just run my RCAs off the front lead and put a spliter on the end. However, I do not want to do that because I could and probably will, lose sound quality.

I don't have a manual for your HU, but I bet you have turned on some built in crossover or something.

Guarantee it. A lot of newer heads direct the X-overs to the speaker leads as well as the pre-amps.
