I am not quite sure how to explain it, but here goes. It sounds some what like there is "loose change" moving around when ever i go over a bumpy section in the road, or a man hole, or something like that. If anyone has ever had this problem, or think they might know what the problem is, can you please put forth your input.

Thanks, Derek

Well I would assume that some, thing is loose. maybe the exhaust heat shield or a worn out bushing maybe a loose shock or coil could be anything I would suggest you get under it and start checking things. If its loose enough to make that kinda noise you should be able to tug on things and find something loose.

Just an anecdote: I was driving down the freeway once and heard a noise like that. Turned out I had forgotten to torque my lug nuts when I had one of the tires off. some of the lug nuts had fallen off and were rattling around inside the hub cap.
Like was said, something is loose. Lots of possibilities. Just get underneath and shake and wiggle components until you find something loose.

Thanks alot for your guys input. I will get under there this weekend and try to see if I cant find out what is wrong

I think I may have the same problem.

I may have the same problem as you... have u figured it out yet? Except i found out what the "loose change" sound is, but about the same time as the loose change sound comes a loud, deeper rattle/thump. The loose change was a metal ring that had come loose because it had broken, but i don't know what it is called or where i could find it. I guess I may have to go to a mechanic. But I still need to figure out what the louder thump is.. can anyone help me out there?

What was the loose change sound for you? Did you ever find out what the metal piece was from?

Here's a possiblity: The brake pads on the front wheels. The pad that isn't clamped onto the caliper (the inboard pad) can rattle around and make a lot of noise. I had the same exact symptoms that you described. I have been looking for a long time to try to find the source. I've replaced the motor mounts, tranny mount, checked the radius arm bushings, axle pivot bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc etc etc etc etc etc. Nothing helped. Today I was knocking around under the truck and wiggled the brake pad. It made the same noise that I had been hearing. So, I used some CRC disc brake quiet (it is a red goo that you slather on the metal part of the pad that contacts the spindle). So far I haven't heard the noise again.

Anyway, get under there and try to wiggle the inboard pad. Do it to both sides (mine was making noise from both sides).
