Can someone explain what the vent behind the second row seat on the passenger side does and the vents along back windows do?

I am getting a lot of wind noise coming out of the vent behind the second row seat on the passenger side and some road noise in those back vents. Those back ones are right above the wheel well so I am gathering that is part of it. Is there supposed to be some insulation or something in there maybe? Anybody know if all those vents just pop off with a screwdriver?

Im getting wind noise from 2ND row passenger door to body seal, you sure that's not where its coming from?

It seems to be a door rubber/felt seal manufacturing defect.

I believe I have the same issue, however on the driver's side...

For the second row seat, are you talking about the ceiling vent? I posted a thread a long time ago about the rear vents fluttering when the blower was turned up to a higher speed. Not all Explorers do it, but a majority of them do. My dealership acknowledged it and said there was no known fix from Ford. I wouldn't want my dealership taking all that apart anyways to be honest.

No it's that louvered exhaust vent or intake vent down low right behind the passenger 2nd row seat. Maybe intake when recirculation fan is on.

Isn't that the heating outlet?

Hmmm, I will have to check that. Haven't ridden back there. Operates with both the front controls and rear controls? I will try changing the fan speed while I sit back there once.

I rode back there in hopes I could ID the source of window wind noise, I believe the vents your referring to are part of HVAC as mine changed depending on rear HVAC settings.

Yeah, I just verified that as well. Mine was actually coming from rear seat windows split area. I am going to post a vid and start a new thread.
