Noisy w/ 4wd engaged

I have 91 XLT that recently started making a noise on the front driver side that sounds like a bad bearing. W/O 4WD engaged it's fine. However the spring is upon us and I plan to get as far from the city as my truck will take me, so I need to find out whats wrong and get it fixed. I've been to 2 different shops and neither could find anything worng! Any suggetsions?:

Your not driving in 4x4 on dry or even wet pavement are you? If you are it's your ujoints binding up and you need to stop doing that or you will/can cause major damage. 4x4 is ONLY for dirt/sand/gravel/snow/mud. AWD is meant for the street. I'm not wanting to insult your intelligence but i've read so many posts where people are using 4x4 on pavement that's the first thing I always warn against. Anyway I hope I helped some, if not we'll go from there!
