Non Functioning Map Lights

1998 Explorer XLT 4door 4.0 sohc

Here's the trouble. All of the lights that are supposed to come on with the dome lights do. However, the map light will not turn on with the switches. the switches are all functional as I have test with meter. The front switches turn the front map lights off when they are functioning as domes...can't find the dome/map lights in the schematics. Anybody got a clue? :navajo:

The skems. I don't have,I checked my Hanyes manual and did'nt come across it.Besides the bulb (or bulbs)Try the fuses.(hopefully they're marked, if not)Fuse 27 (in the fuse panel on the drivers side)on the bottom of the fuse panel go up until they go across the same way (flat across like ----).Then look for the second fuse "in" off the right side (your right hand side when looking at the panel)or - - x - is the fuse.You say you've checked the swiches so try the socket the bulb goes in ground off in the chassis or bolt that goes into the frame.I hope this helps and is not to confussing...
