I've got a U.S. Amps 50 HCA and I have no idea what the specs are on it or how much it's worth. Could anyone help me? Heres a pic of it

I don't think this is the exact one. (Yours looks a few years old.)

Great amps though

Thanks for the input, I saw that on their site but I wasn't sure if that was even close to mine or not. Does anyone else have any idea what I could get out of it. I want to sell it but I don't want to rip anyone off or get ripped off myself.

Check around ebay they used to have quite a few us amps on there.... they are pretty desirable as this SPL craze is in full swing, good amps, rather pricey as of late IMO...

I'm a little stupid when it comes to stuff like this but is this any good?

25 x 2 at 4 ohms
50 x 2 at 2 ohms
100 x 2 at 1 ohms
150 x 2 at 1/2 ohm

Thanks,
Travis

bump, does anyone know if thats pretty good specs for an amp and if so how much do you think it would go for?

Thanks,
Travis

Travis,

Some of the things you want to find out / look at to determine whether or not an amp is a good one:

THD-the lower the % the better the better the reproduction (Total Harmonic Distortion)

Ohm capability-comes into play for situations where you want to wire speakers in serries or parallell.

Frquency Response-The wider the range the better

Operating Current-try to stay w/lower amperage as the more amplifiers you install, the more juice it takes to run them.

S/N ratio-(Signal to Noise)the better the ratio, the better the more efficient the amp is, the less heat it generates(usually in this format: > 94db or "greater than 94 db)

When all of these items have good / efficient ratings then you can look at how much power / watts the amplifier puts out.

Most manufacturers list the RMS and MAX output for their amps. Most amps that are advertised as having 300 watts x 2 channel output can reach that 300 watts for the split second before they blow up. Especially those that are inexpensive. If you are looking at an amp that goes for $50.00 and has an advertised output of an extraordinarily high watts/channel output, the rms rating is probably 1/4 to 1/2 (at best) of what is advertised.

Keep this in mind; the more efficient the amp, the less it has to work. If you have a good to high end head unit and: If you combine an efficient amplifier with efficient speakers, route the frequencies through an efficient crossover and finally use speakers that have a good watt/meter rating, along with a good efficiency rating, you will have a system that performs well. You may not be able to blow the glass out of your X, but you will be able to hear the music and clearly at that.

Good Luck,
