Have you had codes scanned, if any?
Could be a wheel sensor, 4x4 module, bad ground, ABS sensor etc... First thing check for codes/frayed or broken wires before throwing any parts at it. Can you confirm 4x4 engages? My module went out years ago and only ran FWD, I don't recall having any flashing lights and didn't even notice till we had a bad snow storm and I could hardly drive up a hill.
Good luck!

ok thank you gives me a plan of attack.

The ‘02 has a separate 4x4 module and it’s known to fail. However, it usually causes a clunk during slow hard turns. IIRC.
There’s also more than a few part numbers for it and you have to have one that matches. So get the number. But this would be my guess. I don’t have an ‘02, but there’s plenty of posts on it.
