I was under the hood the other day and noticed how rusted the plugs look! I didnt take them out yet, had planned to but we had some really crappy weather this past weekend. Im talking about the hex shaped part of the plug. Below the ceramic.

Is this normal? Reason im asking is, the plugs were replaced about 1 1/2 years ago and they look older then this!

Thanks

Sounds normal, especially for high humidity climates. I usually change my plugs yearly. The manufactures put cheap paint on plugs.

ya I've seen it before.. I doubt its anything to worry about but if you're worried about how deep it goes you could pull the plug.

my engine block is like that.. it looks like its 30 years old.. but my plugs aren't at all

Ok thanks guys, I'll pull the plugs and see how they look. Most likely going to replace them anyway.
